A magnificent large museum quality 2nd-3rd century Gandharan Stucco Head of Buddha Sakymuni. Perfectly modeled in the classical Gandharan Greco style. Very high quality piece. From Afghanistan, probably Hadda. The beautiful face is modelled with a meditive expression, arched eyebrows above heavy lidded eyes, aquiline nose gently smiling bow shaped lips red pigment remaining, elongated earlobes, wavy hairdress swept backwards and terminating into an usnisa, traces of original coloured pigments remaining, surface of the stucco remains smooth and polished except for the surface of the nose.
The piece is in excellent condition with no repairs or restoration, Absolutely Beautiful piece.

A rare and fine 2nd-3rd century stucco Gandharan head of a Bodhisattva. This is a particularly nice pieces, his face modelled with a serene expression, smiling lips, raised brows above heavy lidded eyes, aquiline nose and an elaborate headdress with lardge central and side roundel diadems, large ear ornaments one remaining - wonderful piece. Colour pigments still clearly visible, perticularly on lips, eyes and indication or central Urna. Good size at 12cm.

A magnificent large museum quality 3-4rd century Gandharan Stucco Buddha seated in Dhyanasana with his hands resting in his lap in dhyana mudra. Wearing a pleated sanghati leaving his right shoulder bare. His face with peaceful expression, small bow-shaped mouth, heavy-lidded almond shaped eyes, and finely arched eyebrows. Remains of colour polychrome pigments throughout. From Afghanistan.
The piece is in excellent condition, two repairs one to the neck area and one between the hands and body, superb and rare stucco piece.

The beautiful face is modelled with a meditive expression, arched eyebrows above heavy lidded eyes, gently smiling lips, elongated earlobes, locks of hair rendered by round depressions terminating in an usnisa. Some traces of original red/brown pigment remaining particularly around the back of the head, were it once would have been attached to a larger stucco relief or narrative relief. Nice size 12cm

A nice rare 3rd-4th century Gandharan stucco Head of the Buddha, from Afghanistan. The face is modelled with a meditive expression, with nice classical features, original colour pigments remaining throughout give the piece depth, arched eyebrows above heavy lidded eyes, aquiline nose, urna, and gently smiling bow shaped lips. Hairdress terminates in a top knot. The surface is smooth and in excellent condition, pieces of this quality with colour pigments and size are now very rare. See #0737 above for a similar piece from the same site.

His hair arranged in wavy strands, traces of original coloured pigments remaining on surface. Professionally mounted on a clear plexi glass stand with black metal rod. Probably from Jalalabad Afghanistan.
The head has been damaged down the right side and top, remaining face is in good condition with no restoration or damage to the features.

A beautiful quality 3-4rd century Gandharan Stucco Buddha seated in Dhyanasana with his hands resting in his lap in dhyana mudra. Wearing a pleated sanghati covering both shoulders and knees. Seated on an interesting and nicely detailed low lotus pedestal, with nimbus behind. His face with peaceful expression, small bow-shaped mouth, heavy-lidded almond shaped eyes. His head tilted down in meditation and slightly to his left. The locks of hair are rendered by round depressions. Remains of red coloured pigments arranged in a lotus pattern visible on the underside. From Afghanistan.
The piece is in excellent condition, ancient damage to the nose, superb and rare stucco piece almost complete.
