LARGE STUCCO HEAD OF BUDDHA
3rd-4th Century AD
Code: 0767 - Price: POA
Another large example of a Gandharan stucco Buddha head, this piece measures 11.8". His fase is again modelled with a meditative expression, with slightly arched eyebrows, heavy lidded eyes, aquiline nose, smiling lips, haidress combed into an usnisha. Large Urna in the centre of the forhead which at one time would have probbably held a presious stone or gold. Some of the outer surface hase worn away, not so unusual considering the pieces is almost 2,000 years old. The stucco is never-the-less stable and very solid. Superb large museum quality piece.
